Meet the Family That Makes up Everest

Teena Uyeno
Teena is the foundation breeding female of Everest Kennels. Teena grew up with purebred dogs and was introduced to the world of breeding as a young veterinary technician, where she took care of litters for breeders. After mentoring under various breeders for many years, she finally got her own Bullmastiff to show with hopes to breed her and continue preserving the breed. Unfortunately, the first few girls she got had health conditions that could have been passed to their progeny, so she made the difficult decision not to breed them. With time and patience, came Bessie our foundation Bullmastiff female, who not only was a wonderful mom to beautiful babies, but also went on to become the Number One Bullmastiff Female in the United States.Teena has always been interested in animal behavior and as she stepped away from being a veterinary technician to be home more with her children, she put more efforts into her animal training and behavioral modification business. In the early 2000s, Teena was introduced to Golden Retrievers when she got a dog named Tater in for training, who quickly integrated himself into our family and never left. Teena and her family began breeding Golden Retrievers for Guide Dogs of America and since then, has had many of their Goldens go on to be various types of service dogs in adddition to them participating in conformation and performance events.Teena is a very active member in the dog community, holding positions on many boards and committees of breed clubs and is our main point of contact at Everest Kennels. She spends countless hours making sure our puppies and their families are perfect matches and ensures that everyone has the support they need along the way.

Breanna Uyeno
Breanna is Teena’s oldest daughter and had the privilege of growing up in this. She had a passion for dogs at a very early age and became involved in breeding as soon as she was strong enough to bottle feed a puppy. Breanna continued with her passion and became an AKC junior handler, traveling all over the country showing dogs and competing for scholarships. Now as an adult, she continues to show their bred-by dogs and plays a very active role in their breeding program. She is currently a veterinary student and an AKC veterinary student representative. As much as she loves competing with her dogs, breeding dogs and breed preservation has always been her true passion and she is constantly updating her knowledge to better the Everest Kennel’s breeding program as well as sharing that knowledge with others.

Olivia Uyeno
Olivia is Everest’s youngest member of the family and has been apart of the show and training scene ever since she could walk.Though the first loves of her life always came in the package of Golden Retrievers and Bullmastiffs, her heart resides with her Standard Manchester Terriers, specifically Tag.Together, Olivia and Tag have accomplished many notable achievements. Along with countless breed wins, group placements, and titles in performance events, Liv and Tag were named the 2019 Best of Breed winner and 2023 Junior Showmanship Finalist at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.Olivia continues to be active in Everest’s breeding programs and the Manchester Terrier community from Colorado State University where she attends college. Liv hopes to pursue a career in veterinary medicine later or another animal related field- keeping it all in the family!
